Green thumb?

The weather has been gorgeous this past week...and it encouraged me to get outside more. Therefore I ended up spending about 2 afternoons de-weeding parts of our backyard. AND I have somehow developed a need to grow green things.

There's a small sunny patch with really fertile soil in which I'm planning to seed some sweet peas. There are two shady patches and not too many flowers that like it completely shady. SO, there's an attempt to grow impatiens. Let's hope the $2 I spent on seeds is worth it! I've planted the seeds in an egg carton much like the planting we did in elementary school. I'm HOPING very much that I can get at least half of the seeds to germinate. Wish me luck!

Update on my brother: still doing well in basic training. Last week he got to do the gas chamber. I guess it helps them train to deal with the effects of harmful gas. He wrote that it burns your skin but not lethally...great...lovely stuff. I'm not sure if he got a pass for this past weekend to wander outside of the Fort but he was planning to spend most of his pocket money on FOOD. Chinese food is popular among his training group - I think they talk about food a lot.
