Howling and monkeys

Yesterday at the end of the workday...

I was just sitting in my cubicle working away when I began to hear a faint howling noise. It was an intermittent sound so I thought someone was watching a video over and over again (as in an attachment from a friend that you play multiple times-if you are that bored at work). Well, it went on for a while. So when I was IMing my coworker BeefAvenue, I asked him "what is that howling noise?" He said that he couldn't hear it and thought that I was hearing things due to stress or overwork. Our dialogue went on for a while: I was accusing him of playing the sounds and pretending that I was "hearing things", and he kept denying it. (During the course of this time, the howling got louder and I also began to hear these "eep eep" sounds.) BeefAvenue then came into my cube, sat down, and tried to counsel me about hearing noises.

When he got up to leave, he heard it too! But then I thought, he could be bluffing this too. However his surprise turned out to be genuine. Another coworker EV passed by and BeefAvenue asked him "Do you hear these sounds?" EV was like "oh yeah, it's coming from our area". BeefAvenue and I walked over to EV's work area and discovered one of our other coworkers MrWang on the phone and playing these jungle noises. So the howling was a lion's roar and the eeps were monkeys chattering.

Apparently, MrWang was disputing a phone bill (and had been on the phone with customer service for a WHILE) and was playing these jungle sounds to unnerve the person on the other line. :D

Turns out that BeefAvenue was actually getting worried about my sanity and thought that I was under a lot of stress, thus hearing noises. But don't worry, it's all good. =)

Last Friday, we headed out to the Wang cousins' space-themed party for the viewing of Mars. The place was decorated with big blue and silver stars, blue and silver streamers, and a huge TV playing space movies. There were also so many desserts! Saw GChoi and ILee, two of my babies. :P For the viewing of Mars, we all headed outdoors at midnight. The location of the house was perfect for star gazing - no city lights to obscure the view. When we first saw Mars, it was a "Is that Mars?" reaction. You know how we're always told that Mars is red? Well, it was more of an ivory-with-orange-glints star. It was definitely the biggest "star" in the sky. Mr. Adprab had a pair of red sunglasses which he supposedly got for free at some club. Putting the shades on, Mars was definitely red. So his free sunglasses were of some use. :P Ooh, I also got to see the Milky Way. I never noticed it before in the sky but I guess it's always been there.

We're SO close to booking a DJ. So there's this one DJ who sent us this really nice folder of contracts, customer testimonials, songlits, and scheduling sheets...but we haven't met him yet. I feel almost BAD for not booking an appointment to speak with him. grrrr. Not sure if we should. Why couldn't he just meet with us? sheesh!

Totally forgot, I have asked all my bridesmaids to be my bridesmaids! They said YES. :) woohoo!
Yeah, new developments! We've booked a photographer!! :) Both fiance and I were very impressed with her portfolio. SO and I both prefer candid and artistic shots over posed so she was perfect! Also, we're allowed to keep our proofs and negatives, something that most photographers don't do. Photographers actually get booked pretty quickly. On the web, I found some guy in Colorado that had all his Saturdays in May 2004 booked...already! I guess we'll just have to move a little faster...

Also, we found an officiant. Haven't been able to officially speak with him yet but at least we've decided on him. Yeah! So the funny thing was that we were interviewing another officiant. When we were looking through his portfolio of pictures and client testimonials, I discovered fiance's brother's picture. I was like "Isn't that your brother?!" SO was the best man for that wedding but had completely no recollection of the officiant. heehee. :p

Still need to find dress. It's amazing how much of it centers around the bridal gown-the bouquet, the bridesmaids' dresses, the bridesmaids' bouquets, etc.

All righty, hopefully we'll be really productive next week as well!

So after weeks of putting it off, finally got our butts off the procrastination couch and began to set up appointments and whatnot for professional services, i.e. DJs and officiants. Now that we've actually been through one interview with a potential, it seems as if the rusted gears are once again running.

The dress is definitely a large obstacle though. Can't seem to find one that I'm completely happy with. Of course I've only been shopping twice but fiance's cousin found a dress in her FIRST hour of shopping. So crazy!

On Tuesday, went to SF to see The Graduate, starring Jerry Hall. I thought the play was better than the movie. I really didn't understand much watching the movie. :P Jerry Hall was excellent in the role. =)
