We had an expo for DH's company. We had to man the booth for two full days. Plus, we also handed out balloons. This expo is for the public and not the usual specialized education conferences I had been to before.
We didn't know this prior but helium tanks are not allowed indoors so we had to move our helium tank outdoors. We had never done balloons before so we did not know that we should have done some prep work earlier to make the balloons faster. And, boy, parents go crazy for their kids to get a balloon. Some parents were trying to cut in front of others and just generally being unpleasant. Thankfully we had one very very nice parent who actually helped us because she saw that we were completely swamped. (Note for next time: we probably could've charged for them because some people asked how much they were. Since their kids wanted it, they probably would've paid for the balloons.)
Well, the tough part was that we only had three people for what had become two booths - one inside and one outside. It was nonstop work for a full 7 hours with only pauses to keep ourselves hydrated. For the next day, we brought another body on board. MAN, that was SO much better! We could actually take turns getting lunch and taking breaks from working booth. Plus, we ran out of balloons two hours into Sunday so just one booth to man.
The booth next to ours was selling karoake machines. So during the expo, the employees took turns singing. (One of the women was really really good. We thought it was the default singer but when we looked, it was her singing!) Well, on Sunday, this older lady came to try out the machine. (I personally think she already owned one.) She had this very loud and grating voice. It made you just cringe listening. She serenaded us for about 4-5 songs. >_<
Monday was our complete day of rest. My legs were so sore from making balloons on Saturday - stooping down to get balloons, strings, etc. DH and I are on our Diablo kick again. So that's what we spent most of Monday doing. :p
