Weed wacking

So my DH and I have been sadly neglecting our garden. And hence, we pretty much have a thriving weed farm in the backyard. Some of these weeds had completely flourished on their own and have grown taller than me! I'm not THAT short but when a weed actually towers over you, you know you've gotta break out the trowel and start uprooting.

Took advantage of the we-pay-your-taxes sales at the local hardware store and bought proper wedding supplies, including rose-handling gloves pour moi. They are puncture-proof. hehehhee. :p I love pulling out tap roots, ever since I helped my parents weed the lawn. It's somehow a thrill to see the pasty white crusty root come out and you think "Yeah! I got another one!"

Ok, our weeds are different. Their tap roots are so freaking deep in the ground. I labored away at one and after digging about a hole six inches deep around it, I still couldn't get to the end of that root.

At least the afternoon of weeding produced some positive results: the tall weeds have been wacked and garbage collected, stronger arms for me. yeah! :)

All the tea came in a teapot with adorable tea cozies. I've never seen that setup before so I was intrigued. :) The lunch plates were also very dainty - a small quiche, mini triangle sandwiches, small pastry, and a fresh orchid. (This is a really girly place, can you tell?) After lunch, we had dessert. They had a selection of six or seven different desserts and there were five of us. So, we decided to order five and then rotate the plates so everyone could sample each dessert. heehee. The desserts were gigantic compared to their lunch plates. Very filling meal despite the perception of tea being a light snack. At some point, I also gave the girls small presents that I had prepared (took me a long time to actually decide upon what to get them but I was happy with the results). Lavendar gift bags with silver tissue paper. heehee.

Lunch ran overtime - we took a lot longer than I expected. Then we dropped off two of the cars at a local shopping mall so that we could all take one car to the nail salon. The two girls were rushed through the nail process. While we waited for the girls, we futilely scanned through magazines for hair styles for the next day. LC couldn't put her sneakers back on because she needed to wait for the polish to dry so she got into the car with a pair of flimsy pooh-bear flipflops and rolled up denim legs. heehee. By the time we got to the rehearsal, we were half an hour late. oops.

What was left of the rehearsal went well thanks to the site coordinator. The first time practicing the walk down the aisle was a bit nerve racking. It was a relief to see that everything was coming together after all the planning. :) My brother was in a suit - my brother is so cute. :p My grandparents were also there, they're also so cute. :)

Rehearsal dinner held at Buca's. As we walked to the restaurant, LE went and greeted a random guy on the street. Turns out it was her fiance...and he has head full of hair now! Didn't recognize him at first. :D We naturally split into two tables-family and friends. It was so awesome to see the two tables - so grateful that we had so many people to share our special day with. Kinda gets you warm and fuzzy inside. :)

So apparently my uncle is now a strict vegetarian. When I found out, I said "Oh, I didn't know!" (We didn't order any vegetarian dishes for dinner.) And my grandmother then pointedly said "Neither did I. Until now." pause "And I'm his mother!" haha!! :D

Before I went to sleep that night, I made a list of all the things that I needed to do the next morning so I could sleep stress-free. Also, I made a pact with myself that I would not get stressed over anything that went wrong the next day. I told myself that I've stressed enough over the past few weeks and tomorrow was NOT the day to get stressed again. So, I went off to sleep pretty well. :) (I'm very proud of myself for that pact. heehee)

Now it's time for a recap before I forget everything that I want to remember.

The day before

Started the day out pretty early because we needed to get manicures and pedicures finished for three girls before lunch. Seemed to be a dismal day foreboding rain but I decided to wear my planned outfit anyway - need to get more mileage out of that dress. :P Went to pick up SK and then headed out to pick up LE who was staying at a friend's for the weekend. When we pulled into parking at the friend's apartment complex, SK and I saw LE hug her friend and get in our car. We pulled out of the complex and were waiting at a traffic light when I noticed a driver looking into our car and grinning - big grin. I asked LE, "Oh, is that your friend?" and she replied "yes". So, I waved at the grinning driver. Then LE turned around and saw who I was waving and said "That's not my friend." eek! Creepy grinning driver guy was NOT who I thought it was. oops. Lost the guy by driving speed limit. haha!! :D What a way to introduce a friend to California, huh. :p

We were a tad late to the nail salon but we were done around noon. To prep our feet for the pedicure, they had a soaking tub that bubbled. So relaxing. :) We all got french nails done - they're so pretty but so hard to maintain. But we took a picture of our feet, each one identified by a battle scar. Went to my house to show LE where DH and I are living. Then headed off for lunch - we were to meet all the girls at 1pm at a cute little teahouse. :)

Parking was a bit scarce but we all managed to find spots on the otherside of the railroad tracks which were in front of the teahouse. After we walked across the tracks, the railroad lights began flashing. We were like "oh, Caltrain". As it passed, LE took a look back -- she thought it was a "cow train" that transported cows. haha! :D

Tea luncheon was excellent! They had these yummy ginger cookies with lemon curd (like bread and butter before dinner), purple sugared violets, and a sugar bowl set on the table when we arrived. The sugar bowl was full of big sugar cubes including a purple heart shaped "cube". The waitress gave us a bell that we were to ring whenever we were ready to order. It was kind of weird ringing the bell for service.

All the tea came in a teapot with adorable tea cozies. I've never seen that setup before so I was intrigued. :)

Everything normal

So good thing no one actually touched my cube while I was away. Look what happened to one lucky fellow: Yikes!

So it's back to work again after spending two glorious weeks in Italy after the wedding. Hopefully we'll have a nice web log with pictures of what we did on our honeymoon...Yesterday night, we decided to unpack all the presents we had received via mail to clear up some room in the house. My name was butchered by some of the shipping systems - apparently I can be both "Pear" and "Pam" as well as my real name. How did they get Pam?!?! At least they got DH's name right. sheesh.

Ooh, and we got our marriage certificate copies! Officially married! :p
