Christmas Vacation
We left for Orange County on the Thursday before Christmas. We're spending this vacation with DH's immediate family - mom, dad, brother, sister-in-law, sister, sister's 3 kids, and nanny. The house is completely packed with people such that we've been located in the study with inflatable mattresses.
The kids are a ball to play with. They were a bit shy at first but now they actually call me "Auntie P-". The oldest (a girl) is almost 4 years old with a propensity towards dresses and barettes, general girly items. The middle child (a boy) is 2.5 years old who has the eating habits of my DH with a large and ready appetite. The youngest (a girl) is 3 months old and has yet to learn how to turn over.
Their Christmas presents were piled HIGH under the tree. The tree was adorned with cookie ornaments that the kiddies decorated under the guidance of their nanny. Each day after Christmas, they were allowed to eat one cookie from the tree.
The Tuesday after Christmas we went to Disneyland! SO CROWDED! The park was opened until midnight so that's when we left. The Indiana Jones ride had a ridiculous wait at all times. The new and improved Space Mountain was more exciting than the old one but it did break down twice that day. Thankfully we got on between the two breakdowns. The whole park had a Christmas theme which I've never experienced before. The haunted mansion, because of the Christmas holidays, wasn't as scary as the original. Between "it's a small world", the Small World ride also had "Jingle Bells". They had a Christmas parade with Santa, Mrs. Claus, and dancing gingerbread men in addition to the regular Disney characters.
The sad thing was that they closed down the Sleeping Beauty story in the castle (the one where you walk through andd see scenes from Sleeping Beauty) due to the 9/11 attacks - Disneyland is on a high terrorist alert. Instead, they had a princess shop in the castle so little girls can dress like Cinderella, Tinkerbell, Bride Ariel, Belle, etc. I would've bought into the whole princess thing if they came out when I was young enough to wear those.
No matter what age you are, Disneyland is still exciting!
Ok, hope to post some pictures when I get home.
