"Frustrated, Incorporated"

Two incidents today have caused me to conclude that I must work with the most brilliant people.

Incident One: Coworker1 and I were working on a bug. I had already documented what components needed to be fixed, several times. And what do I get this morning? An email asking me what components need to be fixed. READ THE FREAKING BUG that I documented!!!!! How many times do I need to repeat the list of components?!?!

Incident Two: On the phone yesterday for an hour trying to figure out a timing discrepancy with Coworker2. We went through a list of possibilities. I had emailed him previously to show him where the timing discrepancy was located and since he had a better understanding of what it was, I asked him to email our team to explain what he had found. Ok, this guy just sidestepped what I asked and just pointed out something else. WELL, finally I got the feeling that he was a lazy ass who did not want to send the email. So I had to send the freaking summary email of our discussion. And during yesterday's conversation, he asked if I had used the same code to test on the two different environments - I replied yes. Well, he had the NERVE today to reply to my summary email and ask if I had used the same code to test on both environments. YEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSS!!!

Freaking learn to LISTEN!!

ARGH, now I know why people gun down their coworkers.

Excuse me?

All right, so we live in a predominantly Christian nation. The lovely company that doles out my paycheck gives us (i.e., employees in the U.S.) Christmas Day off. It might actually kill the top executives to give the employees here Christmas Eve off as well.

Our South Asian counterparts are in a predominantly Hindu nation. They're only 20% Christian at the most. But they get BOTH Christmas Eve and Christmas Day off.

Does any of this make sense?!?!?!

Victory!!!

I'm not normally into any sports but....
RED SOX RED SOX RED SOX!!!!!!!

We tivo'd the last four innings of the game and watched it on the slowest fast forward setting. (Watching baseball is so much more efficient that way.)

They totally BLEW The Yankees away!! :) :) Man, it was such an exciting game because they were up by a LOT and they held that lead. Go Red Sox!!

DH and I don't usually have this thought but last night we totally wanted to be at a sports bar in Boston. :p Man, totally wish I were in Boston today. Must be so exciting!

Security

They have hyped up security at work. I forgot my badge earlier this week. So when that happens, you just tell the security guard your employee id (yes, this is how they keep track of us peons), answer their question (what's your extension etc), and they let you pass.

Well, this time I had to be warned that

  1. they keep a record of who forgets to bring their badge and submits it to the company
  2. they will notify my manager if this behavior continues

Gee, what a welcome to work.

Also, their system was wacked out that day such that I didn't even appear as an employee. I had to get a coworker to sign me in as a guest. Had to be escorted in and out of the building. sheesh!

Addiction

I think I'm a person who's prone to acquire addictions. Last night, for some stupid reason, I got addicted to a game on yahoo. It's one of those ones where you just HAD to get to the next level. It was timed so you could go through a game pretty quickly so you just keep playing. Kind of playing The Sims where you play just one more day, one more day, one more day, and end up spending an entire afternoon playing.

Once I start something that's addicting, then I can't stop. Like TV. Once I start watching, I can't stop regardless of how bad the programming is. Sometimes I wish that I could get rid of the TV and thus get rid of the source of my addiction.
